Every time I go to the supermarket, I have a small ritual.
I leave my $1 coin in the trolley.
It’s not much. Just a tiny gesture.
But I like to imagine that when the next person comes along, who maybe in a rush, juggling kids or just having a tough day, this simple act makes life a little easier.
To me, that’s what The Glitter Effect is all about: small acts of kindness that ripple further than we’ll ever see.

When I first shared this reflection on LinkedIn, I didn’t expect much from it. After all, how significant could a story about a $1 coin in a shopping trolley really be?
But to my surprise, this post has become my most successful LinkedIn post to date with over 8,500 impressions at the time of writing.
It made me stop and ask: why this one?
I think the answer is that kindness is universal.
We all understand it. We all crave it. And we all have the ability to create it.
We live in a world where grand achievements often take the spotlight, but what people connected with here was the reminder that it’s the small things, a smile, a kind word, a moment of thoughtfulness, that truly add up.
The Bigger Picture
This simple story has reminded me why I started The Glitter Effect.
It’s not just a podcast, or a community initiative, it’s a movement to remind people that kindness, connection, and community are powerful forces.
If a $1 coin can resonate so deeply, imagine what could happen if more of us made a conscious effort to “leave a little glitter” in someone else’s day.
